Maarten is a senior economist at Vivid Economics. His work focuses on energy system innovation, energy system analysis, green competitiveness and business opportunities associated with green technologies. His clients include UK Government, NGOs, multinational companies and international development banks.
Combining a physics and economics background, he works on the interface of both. Maarten has built up significant expertise in low carbon technologies, including battery storage, offshore wind and tidal, electric vehicles, carbon capture and storage and greenhouse gas removal technologies. His recent work has often involved developing policy recommendations to stimulate innovation and/or deployment of these technologies.
Maarten has a Masters in Economics with Distinction from the London School of Economics, and an undergraduate degree in Applied Physics from TU Delft.
