The economics of biomass in UK power generation

In replacing retiring coal fired power stations, solar and wind is likely to be comparable or cheaper than biomass, according to research by Vivid Economics, commissioned by the Natural Resources Defence Council (NRDC). The analysis found that even in scenarios that do not fully account for biomass carbon emissions, the total economic cost of biomass is comparable to or higher than that of onshore wind and solar.
