The cost of carbon to 2050

A private client asked Vivid Economics to develop scenarios of carbon prices for use in internal long-term forecasting and investment procedures. Vivid delivered Marginal Abatement Cost Curves (MACCs) for 2020, 2030 and 2050 in nine countries and regions of the world and analysed the implications for carbon prices, both at the regional and global level, and the associated uncertainties and upside and downside risks. In addition to the MACCs a stocktake of current and future policies in the regions informed estimates in the period to 2020.
