The CIF’s contribution to climate finance

Founded in 2008, the Climate Investment Funds (CIF) represents one of the first efforts by the international community to place a significant amount of resources in a dedicated funding vehicle to support developing and emerging economies in adopting a low carbon and climate resilient development trajectory. This report takes stock of the distinctive role that the CIF has played in the climate finance landscape, and the lessons that can be learned for the future.
