Synthesising key messages on China’s low carbon development pathway

Vivid Economics was commissioned by the World Bank’s Partnership for Market Readiness (PMR) to synthesise the key messages and insights from a recent report on China’s 2015 Intended Nationally Determined Contribution (INDC) and its connections with China’s new low carbon ‘innovative development pathway’. The synthesis report summarises China’s plans to achieve peak emissions in 2030 through ambitious reductions in the energy and carbon intensity of the economy, and sets out how the INDC will help start its transition to this new path. The report was developed from technical work by the China National Center for Climate Change Strategy and International Cooperation (NCSC), and was announced at a PMR side event at the 2015 UNFCCC COP21.
