Historical drivers of energy demand in South Africa
As part of the Energy pathways to 2050 project, Vivid Economics conducted an energy demand decomposition analysis for South Africa, Brazil, India, China, Australia and Poland. This analysis, along with a range of descriptive statistics, revealed the major drivers of energy demand in South Africa and contrasted these drivers with the other countries. The work highlighted a number of critical uncertainties that could greatly influence future energy demand and identified points of policy influence in South Africa’s energy demand.
