Innovate UK urban greenspace valuation tool: Greenkeeper

Green spaces, such as parks, gardens, street trees, rivers and canals, are vitally important for quality of life and health in urban areas, supporting recreation and community events, as well as providing space for wildlife, absorbing rainwater and removing harmful air pollutants. Vivid Economics, Barton Willmore and Exeter University are developing an innovative and easy-to-use toolkit which will calculate location-specific economic values of the health, social and environmental benefits of urban green infrastructure. The project has been awarded funding by Innovate UK, the government agency supporting businesses to realise the potential of new technologies and commercial ideas. Thamesmead is one of the pilots in the project and we will aim to develop a toolkit that supports planning and informed decision-making.
