The impact of exempting electro-intensive industries from Contracts for Difference support costs

Investigating a policy option for the Department of Energy and Climate Change and the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, that would bring changes to the electricity prices faced by domestic industries, Vivid Economics conducted detailed sectoral modelling to determine the likely impact on key variables and the potential for firm exit. A cost-benefit summary was provided, identifying, among other issues, possible regional employment effects and shifts in carbon production.
