His main interests are in climate change economics, policy and legislation, climate finance and the economics of adaptation to climate change. He has over twenty years of experience working on environment, energy and development questions in academia, the private sector and various international financial institutions.
He is currently co-director of the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment at the London School of Economics. He is also a non-executive director of CDC Group, the UK’s development finance organisation. From 2008 – 2016 he was a member of the UK Committee on Climate Change. Before joining LSE he served as Deputy Chief Economist at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
He holds a PhD in Economics from University College London and an MSc in Economics from the London School of Economics. His first degree in economics and business studies is from the University of Berne (Switzerland).
