John Ward

John Ward is an expert in environmental economics, industrial organisation, finance and the application of economics to public policy issues.

He has led much of Vivid Economics’ work on climate finance including work on using public funds to support low-carbon private sector investment in the developing world and on the role of advance market commitments in promoting low-carbon investment. He led the advice that Vivid Economics provided to the African Development Bank on the UN High Level Advisory Group on Climate Change Finance. He also has experience in a range of other sectors from postal services to pharmaceuticals and from energy to industrial minerals.

He has worked with a diverse portfolio of clients including numerous companies, government departments and regulatory bodies, as well as the European Commission, World Bank, IEA and UNEP.

He holds an M.Sc. in Economics (with distinction) from the University of London, and an M.A. in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of Oxford.
